Male/Female Pattern Baldness (MPB/FPB)

What Is MPB/FPB?

Male & female pattern baldness is thinning of the hair that affects the top of the scalp.

It is often hereditary from either the mother or father's family line.

Sings of MPB/FPB

Generally people will start to notice the hair is becoming thinner, either at the temples, the crown or a general thinning across the top of the head.  Women often notice their parting becoming wider over time.

If left untreated the hair will become thinner and thinner until there is little or no hair left in certain areas or across the whole top of the scalp.

Females who suffer, rarely go completely bald but rather thin across the top of the scalp starting with the parting becoming thinner & wider.

The rate at which the hair is lost varies, with some people losing a significant amount quite quickly & others taking years to notice any thinning.

With this condition people rarely see the hairs that are falling.

The Hamilton-Norwood scale is often used to determine the stage of loss for a male.  The Ludwig scale is often used to determine the scale of loss for a female.

In adolescent young men, testosterone presents itself & together with an enzyme called 5 alpha reductase it is converted into dihydrotestosterone.   This then binds itself to the base of the follicle (the dermal papilla) blocking any nutrients from getting to the follicle.

Over time the hairs become thinner & shorter until the hair is shed & no hair grows in it's place.

The scalp then produces more sebum in an attempt to protect the scalp.  The follicles remain active for some years but slowly closes until (if left untreated) they shuts down completely.  If this occurs only a transplant is possible to rectify the loss.

Remedy

As with any condition, the earlier it is treated the better the results.

We supply low level laser caps that can be used at home.  For optimum results clients use a set of DHT inhibiting products packed full of nutrients to feed & stimulate your follicles.

We offer a whole range of HLCC products specially formulated to use with (or without the laser) to boost growth & feed your follicles.  Please see more information here https://hovehairclinic.co.uk/laser-products/

Natural DHT inhibiting blockers are also available. https://hovehairclinic.co.uk/shop/hlcc-script-complete-dht-blockers/ or  https://hovehairclinic.co.uk/shop/hlcc-script-aa-dht-blockers/  Which if taken daily unblock your follicles allowing the nutrients to again feed them.  AA+ DHT blockers are for vegans, people who are allergic to shell fish or who have high blood pressure.

We also offer minoxidil to clients  (Re-Stim) who we believe will benefit.  Minoxidil is not natural but can be very effective.  If used, the client must understand that they will need to continue use for life & that once used the more natural options will not be effective due to the strength of minoxidil.
